The major function of the Assistant Director, Athletics Media Services, is to publicize and promote the intercollegiate athletics department at the University of Nevada. This position handles the day-to-day media services responsibilities for selected sports, including writing, producing and editing media guides and game programs, writing weekly and event news releases, updating the department web site, compiling statistics and maintaining historical archives. This position acts as a liaison between the coaches, student-athletes, sports programs and athletic department with the local, regional and national media, fans/general public, conference personnel and NCAA officials to pitch stories and handle information requests from around the country. This position also coordinates the press box/press row operations and statistical crews for each of the assigned sports.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in an athletics media relations office at the college or university level or other related communication field.
Preferred Qualifications:
NCAA experience, Women's Volleyball and Women's Basketball.
